Christmas Day for people who may be on their own or at a loose end at
this time of year.

improve traffic flow at Greensborough Bypass

& Diamond Creek Rd approaches to the

Hurstbridge Rail Line

 

Duplication of track (including bridge) between Clifton Hill and Westgarth stations to increase capacity on the line.

Construction on the Clifton Hill to Westgarth duplication has begun.

Hurstbridge Rail Line

 

Upgrade to signalling between Greensborough & Hurstbridge train stations.

Signals from Eltham to Diamond Creek are completed and commissioned.

Signals from Greensborough to Eltham and Diamond Creek to Hurstbridge are due to be completed by mid 2009.

Montmorency Park Clubrooms

 

Renovation to this important sports facility

for the Montmorency community which

has suffered from white ant damage

and old age

Eltham Little Theatre

 

Refurbishment and rejuvenation of this

important theatre in our local community.

Work on planning stage has commenced.

$100,000 commitment from State Government delivered

Eltham Central Park

 

This important oval is part of a world-first

project involving four other Nillumbik sports

grounds to improve surfacing and to install

a underground drip irrigation system which

will save millions of litres of water per year.

Montmorency Secondary College

 

A boost to local basketball in the form of a

brand new two-court indoor stadium.

 

Eltham Wildcats will also contribute to the project and utilise the basketball stadium outside school hours.

$1.25m committed by State Government

$750,000 announced in 2007.

A further $500,000 committed 2008/09 budget

Council and Eltham Wildcats to provide funding.

Project fully funded and ready to go ahead.

 

Lower Plenty Senior Citizens Club

 

New bus for the club will enable them to

transport members to and from important

services.

 

 

  Funded in 2007/2008 budget. Application awaiting approval.

Bus delivered November 2007

Olivia Newton John Cancer Centre

 

$25 million Brumby Government funds have been committed.  Timing will depend on Federal Government and other funding.

Funded 2008-09 budget

Austin Hospital

New surgery centre at the Austin will

provide 2,850 more operations per year.

 

 

$8 million Works to commence mid-late 2007.

Funded in 2007/2008 budget.

Completed August 2007.

Eltham Bowls Club – new clubrooms

 

 New clubrooms have easy access to the greens. This project is a major improvement for the club

and provides disability access, enabling

people with a disability to enjoy the sport

Glen Katherine PS / St Helena SC             student drop-off zone

 

 New safe and effective student drop off zones

at these two large and successful schools

State Government Funding has been allocated and works have been completed

               St Helena Secondary College-                building project

 

 Major building works – a substantial, two storey state of the art Science, Technology and

Information Centre which will further facilitate

cutting edge educational programs within

the region.

State Government funding has been allocated and work has been completed.

Officially opened by the Premier of Victoria, The Hon Steve Bracks on Wednesday 15th February 2006.

Bus service extensions

 

 Major upgrades and extensions to bus services

in the Electorate of Eltham including:
 

  • New service:  Route Number 580 will travel between Eltham Station and Diamond Creek Station via Main, Wattletree and Ryans Roads.

  • Extended services:  Route 582 (circuit of Eltham North and South)  Route 513 (Eltham to Glenroy) extended to operate on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

  • Extended services:  Route 581 (Eltham to Research), Route 578 (Eltham to Warrandyte via Kangaroo Ground) and Route 579 (Eltham to Warrandyte via Research) extended to Saturday services

 

 

$872,000 p.a.

 

Delivered:

State Government funding has been allocated. Services begun operating in September 2003

Yarra Footbridge -

 

Eltham Lower Park connected with Westerfolds

and Candlebark Parks with construction of a

new footbridge across the Yarra River.

   Barak Bushlands (formerly Falkiner Park)

 bike path:

 

Bicycle path construction to enable more locals

in the area to utilize and enjoy these beautiful wetlands.

Eltham Skate Park

 

 New skate park to be built to give young people

in the local area a fantastic facility to train,

recreate and meet.

Completed:

State Government funding was allocated in 2003, and works have been completed.

Greensborough Bypass Upgrade

 

 Major roads project which will alleviate traffic congestion and provide much greater safety on this busy stretch of road. Works to includes:

 

  • The building of a second bridge at Plenty River

  • Signalised left turning lanes from the Metropolitan Ring Road to the bypass

  • Extension of the three lane east bound approach to the Diamond Creek Road roundabout

  • An off-road shared pedestrian and cycle path for the full length of the bypass, including a crossing at the Plenty River

St Helena bike path

 

 On-road bike path down St Helena Rd –

Karingal Drive linking up other major

north-eastern bicycle paths with Eltham

 Major engineering study into possible upgrades
